Ductile cast iron has an advantage over cast iron in terms of strength. Ductile cast iron has a tensile strength of 60k compared to cast iron's 31k. Ductile cast iron has a yield strength of 40k, whereas cast iron does not show yield strength and eventually fractures. The strength-to-cost ratio of ductile iron is much better than that of cast iron. Ductile cast iron has the same corrosion resistance as cast iron.
